well, the apple generally represents life, continuity and universality because they have been grown for a long time. The shirt is contrasting this continuity with the discontinuity, uncertainty and delicateness of human life. On another level the apple has been a large part of the fairytale world as “the poison apple” meaning that the skeleton could potentially have been poisoned. Zoo York really thought this one through.
