We gave you some fair warning a few weeks ago, but today's your official deadline. After today, Windows 8 gets a LOT more expensive.
How much more? Since launch, Microsoft has been running promotional upgrade prices for all its Windows 8 packages. The Windows 8 Pro is just $40. Starting tomorrow, it's $200. Here's the full list of Windows 8 prices after the promo prices get nuked:
Windows 8 upgrade editions will be priced as follows starting in February:
The Windows 8 Pro upgrade edition will be available online and at retail for $199.99 MSRP (U.S.).
The Windows 8 upgrade edition will be available online and at retail for $119.99 MSRP (U.S.).
The Windows 8 Pro Pack will cost $99.99 MSRP (U.S.).
The Windows 8 Media Center Pack will cost $9.99 MSRP (U.S.).
The one scenario where this doesn't apply is if you bought a Windows 7 PC after June 2nd, 2012. In that case, you're owed a $15 Windows 8 upgrade, which you can redeem until February 28th. And just in case you're thinking of stocking up on the cheap upgrade licenses (and why wouldn't you!), there's a five-per-customer limit. [Microsoft]
